Gold switch caught on camera

NORTH BRUNSWICK - Two men were caught on surveillance cameras switching real gold for fake and selling it to Carpet and Fulton Gallery in North Brusiwck, according to authorities.

Co-owner Kay Mojalal says the men entered the store on Georges Road Wednesday afternoon. He says the other owner, David Balazadeh, took the men into the office to examine and weigh their gold, unaware that a crime was about to take place.

On the surveillance tape, Balazadeh is seen going to the safe for cash, while the suspects exchange a plastic bag containing actual gold with fake gold. The business owners say the deal has cost their business more than $17,000.

Balazadeh and Mojalal are offering a $2,000 reward for information that helps police find the men. North Brunswick police are asking anyone with information to call 732-247-0922.
