Gas sells for $1.84 at Jersey City Exxon for political event

JERSEY CITY - Gas sold for $1.84 per gallon for 300 customers who visited the Newport Exxon near the Holland Tunnel this morning.

The difference between $1.84, the going rate per gallon four years ago, and the current price was paid for by Americans for Prosperity, a conservative special-interest group.

Organizers say the event was aimed at highlighting to the public how dramatically gas prices have increased over the last several years.
