Gas main break sparks evacuations in South Brunswick

SOUTH BRUNSWICK - Almost 200 residents had to be evacuated in South Brunswick this afternoon after a contractor struck a gas main, causing a leak.

Crews were called to the scene on Route 130 and Broadway just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Residents were evacuated as a precaution and Route 130 southbound was closed while the gas company repaired the leak.

PSE&G crews fixed the line and everyone was allowed back inside homes and businesses by 1:15 p.m.
