OLD BRIDGE - A gas main break in Old Bridge forced a temporary evacuation of some residents this morning.

A construction crew struck the 2-inch main this morning on Bordentown Avenue while trying to repair a water leak.

Police and fire crews evacuated everyone in a 100-yard radius around the break as a precaution.

Crews from PSE&G arrived on the scene to shut off the gas and repair the main.

Once the gas was shut off, at around noon, police allowed residents to return to their homes and reopened the road to traffic.
