Garfield probes hate mail against former school board candidates

GARFIELD - A flyer featuring anti-Semitic slurs against former Garfield school board candidate Jim Miller was delivered to dozens of Garfield residents before the school board election last week, according to authorities.

The flyer also targets former candidate Sam Faltas, who was born in Egypt, is a Christian and served in the U.S. Air Force during Desert Storm.

Garfield Mayor Frank Calandriello says he's so appalled that he drafted a resolution calling for any appropriate, state, county or federal agency to investigate who's responsible.
