PARAMUS - Men who dread trips to the mall now have a place to hang out while they wait for their significant others, and they may not want to leave.

Garden State Plaza in Paramus has opened the "State Room," featuring 10 flat-screen TVs where you can watch a movie or play video games. There's also a putting green, pool table and a bar.

The lounge is open to everyone, but there's no denying who it's geared to. "I think it's geared toward middle-class husbands just waiting to get through the shopping experience," says Mike Sindone, of Wood-Ridge.

Mall management says the State Room is designed to offer an experience not usually available at malls.

"It's a good incentive on the mall's part to stop somebody from pulling their wife out of here," says Sindone.

The lounge is sponsored by LG, who provided the TVs.

The State Room will be open until March from 5-9 p.m. during the week and longer on weekends. It is free for shoppers.
