Funeral service planned for Newark police officer

NEWARK - A wake and funeral service have been arranged for Newark officer William Johnson, who was killed in a drive-by shooting last week while he was off-duty.

Johnson's wake will take place at the New Hope Baptist Church Wednesday night, which is also where his funeral will take place on Thursday.

Two other people were also wounded at the Texas Fried Chicken and Pizza Restaurant when Johnson was shot while he was ordering a slice of pizza. A suspect, Rasul McNeil-Thomas, has been taken into custody by the Newark police.
