Fundraiser held for injured hockey player Mike Nichols at iPlay America

FREEHOLD - A community came together Monday in Freehold to raise money for injured teen hockey player Mike Nichols and his family.

The event was held at iPlay America, where merchandise went up for auction and ticket sales were donated to the Nichols family. 

Mike is paralyzed after breaking his neck during a hockey game in January.

Former New York Ranger Ron Dugay signed autographs for fans.

"This could be anybody's child," says Mike's mom, Christine Nichols. "You don't think this is going to happen." She says they are setting small goals and that Mike just got a motorized wheel chair.  

Mike's next goal is getting off the ventilator.
