EDISON - Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) has ordered a 30-day freeze on the ARC rail tunnel that would connect New Jersey to Manhattan.

The ARC tunnel is the most expensive mass transit project in U.S. history, and work is already under way in North Bergen. New Jersey legislators say in times like these, the state cannot afford not to build the tunnel. This was after federal officials said the tunnel could go $1 billion over budget.

New Jersey's Democratic lawmakers say the project will create 6,000 jobs, and that makes the project worth fighting for.
