SOMERVILLE - It has been five months since a Somerville firefighter was killed in a hit-and-run accident, and so far no one has been found responsible.

The family and friends of George Kavanaugh say they want justice and are pushing to find the driver that killed him.

"It's very personal for me to find the person that actually had done this," says friend Kelly Iselin.

On March 6, Kavanaugh walked outside the Lincoln Hose company to wait for a ride home. He had just finished saying goodnight to Iselin.

"I gave him a hug and I told him 'I'll see you tomorrow,'" says Iselin. "Tomorrow didn't come."

A car ran Kavanaugh down and did not stop. Iselin called 911 and was there with Kavanaugh when he died.

A witness has suggested the driver may have been in either a Honda CRV or a Volvo XC60. There is a theory that the driver may also be a member of the Somerville Fire Department because some witnesses say they thought they saw the car idling in the firehouse driveway before it hit Kavanaugh; however this has not been confirmed by authorities.

Iselin's son, Jake Hoffman, has created a Facebook page to help reignite the public's interest in the case and to keep it from going stale. A $15,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the driver.

Kavanaugh was an Army veteran and left behind a wife and children.
