Friends, family hold fundraiser at iPlay America for Mike Nichols, Monroe hockey player recovering from spinal cord injury
EDISON - A fundraiser for a Monroe High School hockey player recovering from a spinal cord injury will be held Monday night at a theme park in Freehold.
Mike Nichols is recovering at Kessler rehab center. His father says he has virtually no feeling from his chest down, but about a week ago, Mike got the chance to go outside for the first time since his injury in January.
"The good thing about Mike is his attitude. His attitude remains positive and that's a big part of the battle," says Mike's father Steven Nichols. "If he wins that battle, we're on our way to recovery."
