OLD BRIDGE - An old friend of the Old Bridge professor who was beaten to death back in June spoke out about the decision to try the alleged teenage attackers as adults.

Police say five suspects jumped out of a car and attacked Dr. Divyendu Sinha and his sons while they were walking near their home. Sinha died three days later as a result of the injuries.

Prosecutors say Steven Contreras, Julian Daley, Chris Conway, Christian Tinli, and Cash Johnson, all between the ages of 16 and 18 years old, will be tried as adults.

Gaurang Vaishnav says he knew Dr. Sinha for 12 years and says charging the five teens as adults is exactly what the victim's family and friends were hoping for.

One of the defendants, Daley, has made bail and has been released from juvenile detention.Juveniles being tried as adults for Old Bridge murderVigil held for Old Bridge man beaten to deathOld Bridge dad beaten to death while walking with family
