FRANKLIN BOROUGH - A day after more than 200 people attended a rally demanding his firing, Franklin Borough Councilman David Fanale announced his resignation.

Fanale denies he resigned because of public pressure. The Republican councilman said he was quitting because of the stress he and his family have endured from the media.

Residents of the Sussex County town reacted after Fanale launched an anti-police tirade on his Facebook page.
