Fossils found at construction site

A 3,000-pound dinosaur track that is now on display at the New Jersey State Museum wasn't part of a large scale excavation; it was found

WOODLAND PARK - A 3,000-pound dinosaur track that is now on display at the New Jersey State Museum wasn't part of a large scale excavation; it was found at a construction site in Woodland Park.

The site developer, K. Hovnanian, believes there may be more out there. Because of that, the company contacted the museum to find out before construction started. The specimen was collected yesterday from the site.

Although the museum is pleased with the way the developer is handling the situation so far, there are those who feel more should be done to preserve New Jersey's dinosaur history.

K. Hovnanian says it will preserve the quarry walls for future research and anything that's found will be given to the museum.
