FORT LEE - Fort Lee police officers have been suspended after they allegedly locked a handful of underage partygoers in a van in effort to break up a party this past weekend.

Fort Lee officials say cops found about 27 teenagers drinking and doing drugs. A borough attorney says the group was brought to police headquarters to wait for their parents, but admits that five of the teens remained locked in a police van in the cold overnight without food, water or a bathroom.

The teens were let out of the van after someone heard them screaming from inside.

Many community members say they're shocked and hope the officers involved are punished, but others believe it was an honest mistake.
