EDISON - The former manager of the landmark Tick Tock Diner pleaded guilty Monday to charges that he attempted to hire a hit man to murder his uncle.

Georgios Spyropoulos, 46, of Clifton, pleaded guilty to a first-degree charge of conspiracy to commit murder. Authorities say an undercover officer played the hit man, and that Spyropoulos was set to pay $20,000 to have his uncle tortured and killed. They say Spyropoulos' uncle also worked for the family business.

Authorities say Spyropoulos did not think he was getting his fair share of the profits and was motivated by greed.

The judge in the case says he will officially sentence Spyropoulos to eight years in prison at a hearing in September.
