Former father-in-law of slain Manchester man appears in court

EDISON - The former father-in-law of a Manchester man whose body was found in the trunk of a burning car in Long Branch appeared in court Tuesday afternoon.

Thomas Dorsett 64, of Ocean Township, has been charged with murder and arson-for-hire in the death of Stephen Moore. Dorsett was asked to surrender his passport as a judge says he is a danger to the community and is likely to flee.

Dorsett was hospitalized for an undisclosed condition before being charged in the death. He was transferred yesterday to the Monmouth County jail where he is being held on $3 million bail.

Dorsett's daughter, Kathleen Dorsett, 36, of Ocean Township, is also being held in the Monmouth County jail after she was taken into custody last week. She is also charged with the murder of her ex-husband.
