BRICK - A foreclosed and vacant house in Brick Township is being handed over free of charge to a war veteran in need.

The house, located at 296 Sky Manor Blvd., is being given to Colin Redy, along with his wife and four kids. They stood with not-for-profit groups and the Bayonne Community Bank, which handed over the house to the family.

The Redys will only need to pay utilities and taxes when they move into the house, which is being converted from a three- to a four-bedroom home.

Redy served in the Coast Guard in Bahrain and has been dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder ever since.

Considering disability payments are often late, affording rent or mortgage costs can be a challenge.

In addition to the house, Bayonne Community Bank also gave the Redys a check for $10,000.
