EDISON - The Ford Motor Company is recalling over 36,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada because air bags may not inflate properly.

The recall affects the Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX and Lincoln Continental.

The air bags were made by Japanese supplier Takata Corp.

Ford says that the defective items don't have the same deadly problem that's led to millions of recalls worldwide of Takata air bags.

Takata Corp. recently pleaded guilty to fraud and agreed to pay $1 billion for that particular recall.
