RAHWAY - A food pantry in Rahway is in need of donations to stay open.

Food for Friends has run out of money to buy groceries for nearly 200 families. The food pantry used to operate out of the Second Presbyterian Church's non-profit status, but the church was sold more than a year ago and it has become difficult to obtain donations.

Ilanda Kerobo says the organization needs about $12,000 a year to operate programs, but it hasn't received enough donations to run until New Year's.

The group also serves about 100 meals a week at a soup kitchen.
