Flurry of activity at New Jersey State House

TRENTON - It was a busy day at the New Jersey State House today as committees met for the first time since breaking for budget talks.

One of the items that was debated was a bill that would ban anyone younger than 18 years old from using UV tanning beds. The bill moved on to the full Assembly.

Also taking a step forward was legislation aimed at non-violent drug offenders. The bill would see that offenders receive drug rehabilitation treatment rather than prison sentences.

A scheduled meeting between Gov. Chris Christie and Senate President Steve Sweeney was canceled. Sweeney's office says he had a routine medical procedure scheduled for today.
