Floodwaters begin receding in northern NJ

WAYNE - Waters have started to recede in most of the flood-prone areas of northern New Jersey after a weekend storm that soaked the area with more than 4 inches of rain.

Firefighters used boats and trucks to evacuate some residents in Wayne, Pompton Lakes, New Milford and Lincoln Park Sunday.

The Passaic River at Little Falls and Pine Brook remains well above flood stage after cresting late last night.

The latest flooding came nearly a month after rivers swollen from melting snow and heavy rains forced evacuations of hundreds of people and caused millions of dollars in damage in northern New Jersey.
