MANTOLOKING - The dunes along Route 35 in Mantoloking are being rebuilt following damage from Wednesday night's storm.

The nor'easter's strong winds caused waves to breech the 13-foot high dunes at around 4 a.m. Thursday morning. Floodwaters, mud and sand seeped onto Route 35, closing off the road until 11 a.m.

The borough's Department of Public Works and state Department of Transportation crews worked throughout the day to rebuild a temporary dune at the spot of the breach.
