JERSEY CITY - Firefighters in Jersey City have knocked down a fire that broke out in a three-story building early this morning.
The three-alarm blaze was initially reported at around 5 a.m. at 623 Garfield Ave.
One of the residents living in the home told News 12 New Jersey a space heater may have sparked the blaze. The fire then quickly spread through the house and damaged an adjacent home.
Residents of both homes will stay with family members while the damage to the houses is assessed.
