Firefighters rescue 5 in Plainfield fire

PLAINFIELD - Five people were rescued from a burning building this morning in Plainfield.

Firefighters rescued four of the victims who were trapped on the second and third floors, according to Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Frank Tidwell. A fifth person who was trapped inside managed to jump out of a window.

The fire broke out at around 9:30 a.m. at 459 West 6th St. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the three-story building.

Firefighters from several towns were called in to fight the blaze.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
