BAYONNE - Firefighters in Bayonne were able to put out a large fire on the 700 block of Avenue A Friday afternoon.

The fire started just before 3:30 p.m. at 754 Avenue A. Everyone who was inside at the time was evacuated safely, according to police.

Witnesses tell News 12 New Jersey that thick, black smoke and large flames were pouring out of the building at the time of the fire.

A family of four adults live inside the building. They were not home at the time of the fire, but will be unable to return to the home for the time being. They are staying with friends and relatives.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
