Firefighters contain Edison wildfire

EDISON - Officials say a wildfire that's burned more than 125 acres in a marshy area along the Raritan River in Edison has been contained.

The fire started shortly before 4 p.m. yesterday near the Raritan Center industrial park.

Fire officials say about 125 firefighters from Edison and surrounding towns and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service were called in to fight the flames.

Firefighters had difficulty getting to the fire because it was burning in an area that is inaccessible to vehicles. No structures were immediately threatened and no injuries were reported.

People in Scotch Plains and Clark reported seeing smoke and embers from the fire.
