MONTCLAIR - Strong winds on Sunday made it difficult for firefighters to put out a blaze at the Montclair Township Animal Shelter.

The assistant director of the shelter said they saw smoke and flames. Volunteers, shelter staff and members of the community all grabbed animals and ran out of the building.

She says while all of the 50 animals were rescued from the fire, they are still in need of forever homes.

The shelter is also asking for people to help with temporary foster homes because the pets could not go back into the building Sunday evening.
