READINGTON TOWNSHIP - Investigators say a house fire that killed an elderly woman is not considered suspicious.

Hunterdon County prosecutors say 88-year-old Evelyn Miller died in Saturday's fire at her Readington Township home. No other injuries were reported in the blaze, and it appears that Miller was alone in the home when the fire occurred.

Authorities say the fire's intense flames and heavy smoke initially prevented emergency responders from entering the residence. But they were able to enter the home a short time later and discovered Miller's body.

A firefighter was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
