PATERSON - A fire tore through a multifamily home Sunday afternoon in Paterson.

The fire started at around 2 p.m. in a two-family house at 307 McBride Ave. The flames then spread to the attic of a neighboring house.

All of the tenants were able to safely escape the smoke and flames. Firefighters managed to rescue two dogs and a bird.

A total of five families were displaced. They are waiting to find out whether they can return to their homes.
