Fire rips through Union City buildings; dozens left homeless

The fire started in a building on New York Avenue near Second Street. (5/6/14)

UNION CITY - Dozens of people have been left without a home after a fire in Union City spread through five buildings.

The five-alarm blaze started in a building on New York Avenue near Second Street and the flames quickly spread to neighboring structures. 

Firefighters from several nearby towns were called in to help fight the blaze.

Fire officials say there were no serious injuries. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.
