Fire rips through Perth Amboy apartment complex

PERTH AMBOY - A fire ripped through a Perth Amboy housing complex last night, leaving nearly 100 people homeless.

The fire reportedly broke out at around 6:30 p.m. at the Harbortown Terrace Apartment Complex.

Several firefighters were called to extinguish the flames, which damaged 12 housing units.

The Red Cross says it is working with the rental office to secure housing for the families displaced by the fire.

Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

Building inspectors will be back at the complex tomorrow to determine how stable the structure is, including if it will have to be torn down.
