JERSEY CITY - An early morning fire ripped through a multi-family home in Jersey City.

The fire broke out at around 7:30 a.m. Monday on Fulton Avenue.

Fire officials say they believe the fire started in the basement or first floor of the home. 

Eight people in total were able to escape the flames. Officials confirmed one person was hurt in the fire, but further details were not disclosed.

The American Red Cross was assisting six adults and three children who were displaced by the blaze.
