UNION BEACH - A fast-moving fire destroyed a home Thursday morning in coastal Monmouth County.

The fire broke out just after 5 a.m. in a home on Center Street in Union Beach.

All five members of the Wells family were able to escape the flames that consumed their home. The mother, who was not identified by name, was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation.

The family had been staying in the home temporarily while they rebuild their home, which was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
