OLD BRIDGE - An overnight fire damaged multiple homes in Old Bridge.

Authorities say one home was totally destroyed and at least two others were significantly damaged on Harding Road.

Investigators say the fire began around midnight in the backyard of one of the homes.

They say the fire then worked its way up a hill to a propane tank which exploded, sending flames 30 to 40 feet into the air, catching a tree on fire.

Resident Jason Woodruff's home was destroyed in the fire. He says he and his family are lucky to be alive.

"The bed we were sleeping on is burnt," he says. "Me and my wife could have been gone."

Fire crews were able to keep the fire from completely destroying the other two homes.

Officials say no one was injured.
