ELIZABETH - A four-alarm fire in Elizabeth late Saturday night started in an abandoned house but quickly spread and damaged three surrounding homes.

Officials say the blaze broke out at 218 South St. at around 10:30 p.m. Fire officials say strong winds spread the fire to three nearby homes, which sustained heavy damage.

Fire officials have not released the cause of the fire. Neighbors say the abandoned house was occupied by homeless people and drug dealers.
