ORANGE - Firefighters from three departments were able to knock down a fire at a duplex Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was reported at around 2:20 p.m. on the first floor of the building at 333 Henry St. The flames spread out a window, causing damage to the outside.
Firefighters were originally sent to 333 Hickory St., which is two blocks away.
Deputy Chief Frank Deangelis says the call came into the West Orange call center and was then relayed to Orange.
"We got the address as 333 Hickory St.," he says. "When units were coming across town, they noticed smoke and people in front of Henry Street and all other units were redirected."
A man who was on the second floor managed to safely get out. Firefighters have not released any information on the cause of the fire.
