Filming of Batman movie begins in Newark

NEWARK - Production trucks are lined up in the Brick City for the filming of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises."

No parking signs have been posted for this Thursday and Friday near Raymond Boulevard, off of Broad Street, where most of the filming will be taking place. Raymond Boulevard between Broad Street, Mulberry Street and McCarter Highway will also be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Cars and buses will have to take alternate routes.

Parents of students at nearby Gray Charter School are concerned about how they are going to drop off and pick up their children when the cameras are rolling.

However, there are no complaints from nearby Better Bites, a lunch place on Raymond Boulevard that will have to close Friday. They'll be compensated by the production company for lost business and plan to cash in on the crowds that'll watch.
