Feds: Scheme to import bogus items into NJ busted

NEWARK - Federal authorities say they've busted a smuggling scheme to import $350 million worth of fake designer hand bags, footwear and illegal drugs into New Jersey.

Authorities say they've arrested 23 people. The counterfeit goods in this scheme are from China. Items recovered include knock-off Coach bags, as well as fake UGG boots. The shipments came into Port Newark in containers under the names of real companies.

An alleged scheme to import crystal methamphetamine was also uncovered. Authorities say the drugs that were recovered were 90 percent pure, and six other suspects are still on the loose.
