Feds issue subpoenas over Xanadu project

(AP) - Federal officials have issued moresubpoenas about the stalled Xanadu retail and entertainment projectin New Jersey's Meadowlands.They're asking the New Jersey Sports and Exposition

EAST RUTHERFORD - (AP) - Federal officials have issued moresubpoenas about the stalled Xanadu retail and entertainment projectin New Jersey's Meadowlands.

They're asking the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authorityfor information from 2002 until the present about politicalendorsements by public officials in support of the project.

Sports authority spokesman John Samerjan tells The Recordnewspaper the agency will cooperate with the request.

Information also has been requested from Assembly and stateSenate Democrats.

The sprawling $2 billion complex was originally slated to openin late 2007.

Gov. Chris Christie has proposed using state money to finish theproject.
