Feds arrest over 100 in NJ-NY mob takedown

NEW YORK - (AP) - Federal agents have arrested more than 100suspected mobsters in multiple investigations of New York'sorganized crime families.

The FBI said most of the arrests were made Thursday morning.Many were in Brooklyn, but they occurred throughout New York City,in New Jersey and New England. Charges include murder, extortionand narcotics trafficking.

Attorney General Eric Holder and other officials were expectedto discuss the cases later Thursday at a news conference inBrooklyn.

The takedown was another blow to New York's five Mafia crimefamilies. Federal probes aided by mob turncoats have decimated thefamilies' ranks and resulted in lengthy prison terms for severalleaders.
