FDA hopes new graphic labels will help curb smoking

EDISON - The FDA has released graphic new images set to appear on cigarette packs as of Sept. 2012. The FDA is hoping smokers will see them and think twice about lighting up.

The new packaging is causing a stir with smokers and nonsmokers alike. However, George Morgan tells News 12 New Jersey that he doesn't think the images will change anyone's mind. He said "I think you're either predisposed to smoke or you're not going to."

The CDC estimates that one out of every five deaths in the U.S. is a result of smoking. There are about 50 million smokers in the U.S.
