FBI round up of pimps includes Newark, Secaucus

NEWARK - The FBI has teamed up with police in 40 cities, including some in New Jersey, in a massive undercover sting operation to rescue children from prostitution.

According to officials, Operation Cross Country 5 has rescued 69 children so far.

The FBI says teens getting off buses in Newark often dream of making it big in New York and those are dreams a pimp will exploit in order to lure them into prostitution.

Two 16-year-old girls were recovered Thursday in Newark. Police also arrested eight people, including two men accused of being the girls' pimps.

Authorities say another eight suspects were arrested Friday in Newark and Secaucus.
