FBI raid carried out in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY - An FBI and police raid was carried out this afternoon on Newark Avenue in Jersey City.

The raid seemed to catch everyone off guard. So far, no arrests have been made, but agents with the FBI's Cyber Crimes Task Force were on the scene all day.

News 12 New Jersey was the only news crew in Jersey City this afternoon as the raid on three jewelry stores, all located on one block, began. Agents were seen taking evidence boxes out of Nikita's Jewelry, Ashu Jewelers and Raja Jewelers.

The FBI was the lead agency on the raid, and so far, will only confirm that there was a search warrant executed here. A law enforcement source tells News 12 New Jersey the raids are tied to an investigation into an international identity theft and money laundering operation.
