NEWARK - The FBI says a passenger is in custody after he claimed that everyone aboard an international flight had been poisoned.

Agents met United Airlines Flight 116 from Hong Kong at Newark Liberty International Airport when it landed at 2 p.m. Monday.

The man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

An FBI spokesman says there is no indication that any passengers had actually been poisoned. According to the FBI, the passenger stood up and made the statement several hours into the flight and a decision was made to continue on to Newark.

A United Airlines spokeswoman says the crew followed procedures and the flight continued as scheduled.

The FBI and Port Authority police are currently interviewing witnesses about events on the plane.
