RARITAN - Father Guy Selvester from the Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament in Raritan says he is not surprised by the choice for pope.
Selvester says Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina was a frontrunner from the beginning. However, what did catch Selvester by surprise was that a Jesuit was selected. He also says he is happy someone from Latin America was chosen.
When describing Bergoglio, Selvester says he is somewhat conservative but has strong interest in social justice issues. He adds that Bergoglio is famous for his personal style in that he cooks for himself and takes public transportation. He says the new pope is all about bringing the gospel to the people.
