FAIRFIELD - A New Jersey father-and-son duo are heading to South Carolina to volunteer for hurricane relief efforts.

Stanhope residents Edward Pavlick and his son Robert have 40 years combined experience as New Jersey disaster workers.

The pair deployed from Fairfield Tuesday morning in a Red Cross emergency vehicle. They will meet up with 22 other New Jersey volunteers who are already supporting the Hurricane Matthew relief effort.

The father-son team says they will help supply families with food and supplies.

“We work good together so we’ll be able to swap who's driving, who's feeding and what not,” says Robert Pavlick.

The pair may be deployed for at least two weeks, but it could be longer.
