JERSEY CITY - The tragic loss of four members of a Jersey City family in a fire may lead to the renaming of the street where they lived.

Tyrell Sellers lost his home in the fire. He believes that if Grant Avenue is renamed, it should be in honor of his neighbors who perished. "I prefer them to change it to William Pickett Sr. Avenue," he says.

Firefighters were sent to the wrong address on similar-sounding Grand Street, delaying their response, according to city officials.

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop wants the street given a new identity for safety purposes, but that is drawing mixed reactions.

Concern that a mix-up like this could happen again has officials considering renaming other streets. The city has a "Van Reypen Street," and a "Van Reipen Avenue," which are pronounced the same but spelled differently. Fulop wants one of these streets renamed to avoid the possibility of another mistake.

The city council will vote on name changes Wednesday, but no alternate street names have been announced.
