FORT LEE - A fatal accident on the George Washington Bridge closed the span's westbound lanes for two hours, according to Port Authority officials.

The agency says a car collided with a truck at 5:20 a.m. on the westbound upper level.

The car driver was killed, and his passenger was injured. She was taken to Hackensack Medical Center. Officials have not released the identity of the victims.

The agency says one westbound lane was reopened at 7:15 a.m. It said congestion was heavy eastbound because of rubbernecking.
