WOODBRIDGE - Two of the four people charged with animal abuse at a Woodbridge pet store appeared in court Wednesday evening.

Jennifer Evans and Sean Wosotka both entered not guilty pleas on charges of animal cruelty. Both were employees of Fancy Pups in Woodbridge.

Police say that many of the dogs suffered from a number of ailments. The shop was reportedly kept in unsanitary conditions.

Store owner Rocco Garruto and veterinarian Keith Gordon are also being charged. Those two men did not show up at court Wednesday.

Health officials tell News 12 New Jersey that they will not renew Garruto’s license to run a pet shop. According to the health department, Garruto can keep the shop open, but is no longer allowed to sell animals.

Animal Control officials say that the dogs are recovering.
